We are so excited to announce our collaboration with Upsidedown wine. The JDRE Team has absolutely LOVED Upsidedown wines for a long time and we are thrilled with how our collab turned out.
Seth and his wife Audrey, the owners of Upsidedown wine, have always had a passion for agriculture from a young age. After a few life events, Seth and Audrey “agreed to move from Seattle to take over their family’s vineyards and start Upsidedown wine. From there they farmed their own vineyards and expanded into their own production space while opening a tasting room in downtown Hood River, Or.” Upsidedown wine has been a huge success and is one of Hood River’s favorites. Aside from the Hood River location, Seth and Audrey are about to open a second tasting room in Cle Elum, Wa. Come visit Upsidedown and taste some incredible bottles at 311 Oak St #2181, Hood River, OR. Open Wed-Sat from 12pm – 6pm.
The Farming Process
Seth and Audrey explain “As vignerons we are only here for a small moment in time, but carry a large responsibility to cultivate healthy soils for generations to come. Over the last decade we have transitioned to a combination of organic and regenerative farming. Every step in the vineyard is important as we do all of our work by hand while staying conscious of every tractor pass and herbicide that was once said to be “safe.” Our belief is we can encourage native flora throughout the estate which in turn will help create a natural healthy environment for biodiversity and bring balance to the vineyard.”
The winemaking Process
“Heavy hands in the vineyard and light hands in the cellar is our approach. Every year we push each site into a distinctive style that the terroir lends itself towards. We feel each vineyard has a unique personality and it is up to us to help it shine. We listen to the vine through the flavor of fruit for picking decisions and let native yeast express the wines. This is how we stay honest to ourselves and paint a picture of what we were given that vintage. That is how we believe in crafting the perfect wine,” says Seth and Audrey.
The JDRE Team believes Upsidedown wine is the most delicious wine in town, which is why we are so excited to share our JDRE bottles with our clients. If you are a JDRE client, we would love to gift you a bottle of our red or white wine, whichever you prefer. We love the holiday season and we are so grateful for our amazing clients and wanted to show our appreciation while supporting local businesses. Season’s greetings to all!
